Turkmenistan and Türkiye Define Steps for Cooperation in Oil, Gas

Turkmenistan and Türkiye outlined further steps for cooperation in the oil and gas sector for the current year. This became known during the eighth meeting of the Turkmen-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, held on February 24-25, 2025, in Ankara as part of the working visit of the Turkmen delegation to the Republic of Türkiye.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Nokerguly Atagulyyev, and the Vice President of Türkiye, Cevdet Yılmaz, who, in their opening remarks, emphasized the high level of bilateral relations based on the principles of equality and mutual trust, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the event, special attention was focused on the dynamics of trade turnover and key areas of cooperation, such as energy, trade, investments, transport, logistics, urban planning, and agriculture.

In addition to issues related to scientific, educational, and cultural exchange, the parties also discussed cooperation in healthcare, tourism, and environmental protection.

As a result of the meeting, a final protocol was signed, and the importance of continuing dialogue within the framework of bilateral and multilateral events held in Turkmenistan and Türkiye was highlighted.

During the visit, a bilateral meeting also took place between Nokerguly Atagulyyev and Cevdet Yılmaz, during which both sides highly appreciated the level of current cooperation and stressed the need for practical implementation of previously reached agreements.
