Chief Financial Officer, PC(T)SB
Mr. Assmawi Bin Salim was appointed as Chief Financial Officer of PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd effective 1st March 2022. He started his career journey as Junior Audit Executive in OSK Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors in Dublin, Ireland from June 2021 before joining Bank of Ireland as Accounts Executive in October 2003 till September 2005. He joined PETRONAS in April 2006 as Accounts Executive at PETRONAS Methanol (Labuan) Sdn Bhd. He has held various portfolios covering Accounting Services, Taxation as well as Business Planning & Budget. In 2010 he was transferred to Centroid Technical Services in Sudan, a Joint Venture Company between OGP Technical Services Sdn Bhd (PETRONAS Subsidiary) and SUDAPET as Senior Accounts Executive. He was then promoted to Finance Manager under Trans Thai-Malaysia (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (a JV between PETRONAS and PTT) in 2012. During his 5 years tenure in Trans Thai-Malaysia (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, he overseas various functions including Finance & Accounts, Administration, Tenders and Procurement, Taxation, Risk Management, Business Planning & Budget, Project Financing and Project Accounting. On 1st January 2017, he joined Upstream having served Downstream for 11 years since joining PETRONAS in 2006. Hist 1st role in Upstream is managing Oil & Gas Accounting for Peninsular Malaysia Asset’s PSCs for 6 months. He was then transferred to Peninsular Malaysia Asset in Kerteh in July 2017 where he served as Head, Accounting Services (Gas). In February 2020, he was assigned as Head of JVM Finance until July 2020 before being assigned and subsequently promoted to Senior Manager position as Head, Finance Technical Services under Upstream Malaysia Finance of PETRONAS. Assmawi holds Bachelor Degree in Accounting & Finance awarded by Liverpool John Moores University under Dublin Business School, Ireland in 2001 as well as Chartered Certified Accountant under ACCA certification since December 2017. He is currently a fellow member of ACCA as well as a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants since 2023.
