Georgia and Azerbaijan agreed on Turkmen oil transit tariff
Georgia and Azerbaijan agreed on a tariff for oil transit from Turkmenistan, Sputnik reported, quoting a message from the Georgian Railway.
The leaders of the Georgian and Azerbaijan Railways met on Tuesday. The meeting was also attended by state and private companies participating in the regional logistics chain such as the Caspian Shipping Company of Azerbaijan, the Baku International Sea Trade Port, the Dubendi and Batumi Oil Terminals.
“The parties have developed permanent seasonal and through tariffs at the rate of the Volga-Don sea corridor so that competition with this route becomes possible during the year”, the message says.
That is, this reduction in rates should promote the competition of the route for Turkmen oil transit to Europe through Azerbaijan and Georgia with the route along the Volga-Don Canal.
