Kyrgyzstan Signs Agreement with Turkmenistan on Electricity Supply

Turkmen electricity will be supplied to Kyrgyzstan under a new intergovernmental agreement valid through 2026, Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev announced during a meeting of the parliamentary committee on energy, subsoil use, and industrial policy. The minister noted, negotiations are ongoing regarding electricity deliveries for 2026 with several regional countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, as reported by the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on Thursday. Ibraev stated that agreements for 2025 have already been signed with these nations. According to official data, Kyrgyzstan imported 3.63 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2024. Turkmenistan began exporting electricity to Kyrgyzstan in August 2021.
