Dr. Victor Nian is an expert in energy and sustainability strategies with 15 years of experience in research and consulting. He is an advisor to the Centre for Strategic Energy Research which is independent energy think established since 2012 in Singapore. He also advises other private and public organizations on strategic energy issues, especially in nuclear, hydrogen, and clean energy technology development. He is the founding leader of UNiLAB on Integrated Systems Analysis Tools established under the spirit of “research and innovation without borders”. He is a Founding Member, elected Council Member, and elected Honorary General Secretary of the International Society for Energy Transition Studies based in Sydney, Australia. He was previously a Senior Research Fellow at the Energy Studies Institute, the National University of Singapore where he was the go-to person on net-zero carbon strategies, sustainable technology pathways, nuclear energy, hydrogen economy, CCUS (an acronym for carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration), and maritime decarbonization. He was also Visiting Fellow of Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge, and Adjunct Professor at Tianjin University of Commerce. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a Minor in Management of Technology, all from the National University of Singapore.
