Topic:

John Hamilton was recently appointed Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Turkmenistan. More recently, he worked at the British High Commission in Kenya as the Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations. John has spent much of his career in Africa with postings in Cairo, Kampala, Abuja and Windhoek, working on a wide range of issues including consular affairs, political relations and communications. Outside of Africa, he has also served in Kolkata and at NATO in Brussels. When last in London, John’s focus was chiefly on human rights working as Private Secretary to the PMs Special Envoy on Human Rights in Iraq and managing the FCO’s global human rights programme fund.
