President, SOCAR
In 1997-2001, he studied at the bachelor’s degree of the Faculty of International Economic Relations of the Azerbaijan State Economic University, and in 2001-2003 - at the master’s degree of the same faculty. In 2007–2008, he continued his studies at Columbia University, USA, at the Faculty of Economic Policy Management/International Energy Management and Politics. 2001-2003 was a laboratory assistant at the Department of International Economic Relations and Marketing of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics. Then, until 2007, he was an adviser and senior adviser in the investment policy department of the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan. In 2008-2009, he was the head of the investment contracts department of the Investment Department of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2010-2018, he was Deputy Executive Director of Azerbaijan Investment Company OJSC. In 2019-2020, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Financial Monitoring Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2020-2021, he was Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On February 10, 2022, Rovshan Najaf was appointed First Vice President of the SOCAR, and on July 21 of the same year appointed President of SOCAR.
