Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Astrakhan region
In 1997, Denis Afanasev graduated from the Astrakhan State Pedagogical Institute with a degree in Philology, and in 2000 – from the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia with a degree in International Relations. Denis Afanasyev began his career in 1997 as a specialist of the first category in the protocol department of the Department of International and Foreign Economic Relations of the Administration of the Astrakhan region. From 1998 to 2000 – a student of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. Then he worked as a chief specialist, head of the sector and head of the organizational and protocol Department at the Ministry of International Cooperation of the Astrakhan region from 2000 to 2005. From 2006 to 2009 – Deputy Minister of International Cooperation of the Astrakhan region. Since February 2009 – Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations of the Astrakhan region. Since April 2019 – Minister of Industry, Transport and Natural Resources of the Astrakhan region. Since March 2022, he has been Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Astrakhan region.
