Sandillo Banerjee joined Climate Compass as Head of International Business Development in September 2022, after having served for over two decades as a career diplomat promoting international trade and investment at U.S. Embassies across four continents. His diplomatic assignments included Nigeria, Russia, Portugal, Mexico, India, and Sweden; he finished his career as Acting U.S. Ambassador to Sweden in the summer of 2021. Prior to joining the Foreign Service as a Commercial Officer, Mr.Banerjee worked as a Program Officer for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Washington, D.C., and Pretoria, South Africa. He also worked for three years as a Project Officer for the Environmental Protection Agency and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon, West Africa, focused on agroforestry programs. Prior to that, he worked as a Strategic Business Consultant for Andersen Consulting, based in Washington D.C. He received an Executive Master’s Degree in Sustainable Energy Systems in 2009 from MIT’s international post-graduate program in Portugal and holds a Master’s Degree in International Sustainable Development from The American University.
