Ismadi Ismail is currently CEO of PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd (PCTSB) since 1 April 2023. He graduated in Petroleum Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, USA in 1997 and has been with PETRONAS for more than 27 years as techno‐commercial person, accumulated vast knowledge in the Upstream operations and overall PETRONAS integrated value chain playing various roles encompassing Petroleum Engineering, Business and Strategic Planning, Strategy Development and Portfolio Management, Technology Development, and Assets Management. He joined PETRONAS in 1997 and was assigned to Peninsular Malaysia Operations, Kerteh as Allocation Engineer and Surveillance Engineer (Reservoir) before ventured out into Business Planning and Portfolio Manager at Strategic Planning Department, PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB). Among of his other roles and experiences were as the Head of Planning and Business Development for Mauritania operations in 2007, PETRONAS first deepwater asset; Head of Development and Operations of PETRONAS Unconventional Division to oversee Canada shale gas and Australia coal‐bed methane (CBM) assets; Head of Production Technology Specialised Studies responsible to develop new technologies (R&D), apply and replicate new technologies; and as the General Manager of Petroleum Economics Department responsible for assets valuation and commercial solutions. In April 2016, he was appointed as General Manager of Upstream Portfolio where he designed and elevated overall Portfolio Management while plays a critical role in PETRONAS Upstream strategy development, before became the General Manager of Joint Venture Malaysia (Sector 4) to manage all Upstream assets operated by ExxonMobil, Sapura‐OMV, Petrofac, EnQuest and Jadestone. He is passionate about developing talent and capability and promoting Diversity and Inclusion (D&I). He is actively in various programs and strategic initiatives within PETRONAS as well as external including as the Chairman of Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Kuala Lumpur Section in 2017/2019.
