Construction of TAPI Serhetabat-Herat Section Planned for Completion This Year
Turkmenistan plans to complete construction of the Serhetabat-Herat section of the TAPI gas pipeline this year, Ambassador Atajan Movlamov expressed Sept. 18. He made the remarks at the “Ambassadors’ Dinner 2026,” an event organized by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, or LCCI, at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Pakistan reported.
Speaking about Turkmenistan’s regional policy, Movlamov said the government attaches particular importance to strengthening regional connectivity, including transport and communications links. He also outlined efforts to establish the “Arkadagyň ak ýoly” unified transit and energy corridor and discussed the implementation of the TAPI and TAP projects.
Completing the Serhetabat-Herat section will create the conditions needed to start supplying natural gas to Afghanistan in 2027, Movlamov said. TAPI and other regional projects are also expected to help provide the region with a reliable supply of cleaner energy and support sustainable economic growth.
LCCI representatives briefed members of the diplomatic corps on the chamber’s activities and opportunities to expand Pakistan’s trade and economic ties with countries in the region and beyond.
Movlamov also highlighted the role of businesses in Punjab province and Lahore in boosting exports, attracting investment, creating jobs and contributing to economic growth.
The event also provided an opportunity to discuss new business ties, potential joint projects and ways to expand mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
