Ismadi Ismail is the Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd (PC(T)SB), a position he has held since April 2023. A Petroleum Engineering graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, USA, he joined PETRONAS in 1997 and brings nearly three decades of experience across the upstream oil and gas industry and the integrated energy value chain. Throughout his career, Ismadi has held diverse technical, commercial and leadership positions spanning petroleum engineering, strategic planning, business development, technology deployment, unconventional resources, petroleum economics and portfolio management. His previous assignments include leadership roles in Mauritania’s deepwater operations; PETRONAS’ unconventional assets in Canada and Australia; upstream strategy development and portfolio management; and Malaysian joint-venture assets operated by international partners. Since assuming leadership of PC(T)SB, Ismadi has worked closely with colleagues across the PETRONAS Group, partners and stakeholders to advance PETRONAS’ long-term strategic ambitions in Turkmenistan. Key milestones achieved through these collective efforts include the renewal of the Block-I Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) and Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) for a further 25 years in 2025, and the signing of new agreements for Blocks 19 and 20 and a 2D Seismic Agreement covering the Northern Blocks in 2026, alongside sustained safe and strong operational performance. Through his leadership and active engagement, these achievements have reinforced PETRONAS’ longterm commitment to Turkmenistan while expanding opportunities for exploration, technology and digital collaboration, and sustainable value creation.
