President, Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC)
Mohd Yazid Ja’afar is President and Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC), where he leads initiatives to strengthen Malaysia’s oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) sector, advance energy transition priorities and enhance the country’s position in regional energy markets. Since joining MPRC’s leadership in 2017, he has played a key role in shaping national industry development strategies, including Malaysia’s OGSE Industry Blueprint 2021–2030, while advising the Ministry of Economy on energy policy, gas markets and sustainable industry development. Previously, he served as Chief Executive of Johor Petroleum Development Corporation Berhad, spearheading the development of the Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex, and held a senior economic and business development role at the Iskandar Regional Development Authority. Earlier in his career, Mohd Yazid held various strategic, technical and commercial positions with Shell in Malaysia and international markets, including the United Kingdom, ASEAN and the Middle East. He holds a Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London.
