Ben Aris is the founder and editor-in-chief of IntelliNews.com, the leading family of global emerging market English-language news publications (bne, bnl, bna, bno, bnm) covering Emerging Europe, Africa, SE Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Our international team of correspondents report daily on over 100 countries, covering business, economics, finance, energy, and politics since 2006.In addition, Ben is the owner and editor-in-chief of Newsbase.com, a global energy publication with a 20-year pedigree that covers the energy business - including power, renewables and nuclear – and caters to energy professionals at the biggest multinationals, government, consultants and think tanks.All publications in the group are commercial, funded by subscriptions and syndications. The group has no government, corporate, oligarch or political funding of any sort.Ben started his career in 1993 as a correspondent for the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) in Central Asia, later becoming the Russian correspondent for the Economist Group’s Business Central Europe before eventually becoming the Moscow bureau chief of the Daily Telegraph in the late 1990s and early noughties. He left Russia in 2003 for a sojourn in Berlin as bureau chief of The Guardian before founding IntelliNews in 2006 and returning to Russia in 2008. During his three decades covering the region he has written for a wide range of titles including The Financial Times, Newsweek and Institutional Investor as well as being a contributing editor at both Euromoney and The Banker for over a decade. Ben has an BSc in Physics with European Studies and certificate of proficiency in German from Brighton University. He also has a MSc and MPhil (hist) in the History and Philosophy in Science, Medicine and Technology from Imperial College, London, as well as post-graduate qualifications in economics from School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).
