International Oil and Gas University and Altyn Asyr TV channel produced a program on the President’s visits to Baku and Yerevan

The Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, together with the Altyn Asyr TV channel of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography, has produced a political program on the historic significance of the working visits of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia. The program emphasizes that the Head of State’s visit to Baku on October 15 to attend the latest summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) was further evidence of Turkmenistan’s high standing in the international arena. CICA is a representative and authoritative intergovernmental forum aimed at strengthening peace, stability and cooperation in Asia. The Conference covers five main areas: political, economic, environmental, humanitarian, and countering new challenges. It serves as a convenient platform for multilateral, multi-vector dialogue. The participation of the Turkmen delegation in the forum demonstrates the country’s steadfast commitment to the principles of multilateral dialogue in discussing important issues on the regional and international agenda. CICA opens broad prospects for developing cooperation in such areas as transport and logistics, sustainable energy, ecology and the fight against climate change. As an observer state, Turkmenistan regards this platform as an effective tool for building trust and actively contributes to the development of balanced approaches to strengthening an atmosphere of mutual respect in Eurasia. On October 16, Arkadagly Hero Serdar took part in the Leaders’ Summit of the UN Biodiversity Conference in Yerevan. Relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Armenia are based on the traditional principles of friendship, mutual respect and trust. Regular high-level dialogue promotes active development of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as interaction between the two countries within major international structures. The Yerevan summit aims to unite the efforts of the international community in protecting natural ecosystems. Amid growing threats linked to climate change, the platform allows heads of state to develop policy mechanisms for ensuring environmental sustainability worldwide. Environmental policy is one of the priority areas of Turkmenistan’s state development and is reflected in large-scale national programs. The country proceeds from the view that protecting the environment and using natural resources rationally are essential conditions for the well-being of present and future generations. Work in this area includes a broad set of measures to combat desertification, preserve biodiversity and use water resources efficiently. On the international stage, Turkmenistan regularly puts forward initiatives aimed at uniting the efforts of the international community on key environmental issues. These include proposals to establish a Regional Center for Climate Change Technologies in Central Asia and to develop a UN Special Programme for the Aral Sea Basin. Particular attention is paid to introducing the principles of a “green” economy, reducing carbon emissions and developing renewable energy. One prominent example of this work is the nationwide tree-planting campaigns: millions of saplings are planted every year, and green zones are being created around cities. As noted in the program, the participation of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in high-level events in Baku and Yerevan was another clear example of Turkmenistan’s high standing as a responsible participant in global cooperation. The proposals and initiatives voiced by the Head of State at the summits confirmed the country’s readiness for broad international cooperation for the sake of environmental well-being and sustainable development in the region and the world.
