
Iranian companies will build a section of the Mary-Mashhad power line from the Mary State Power Plant to the Iranian border. This was announced on Monday by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during a phone call with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.
The parties held the necessary negotiations and signed a relevant document, which ensures that Iranian companies will implement the project, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
During their conversation, Berdimuhamedov and Pezeshkian discussed bilateral cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, emphasizing its strategic significance. The Turkmen side also informed about negotiations with the Turkish company BOTAŞ regarding the supply of Turkmen natural gas to Türkiye through Iran via a swap scheme.
Earlier, on Nov. 18, 2023, the Türkmenenergo State Electric Power Corporation, along with the companies Tanawir and Sanergy Pishro Export and Energy Promotion, signed a framework agreement to finance the Turkmen section of the Mary-Mashhad power line.
